The Ziplex Automated Workstation is a simple bench top unit that performs microarray-based gene expression experiments faster, cheaper and with greater
ease-of-use than existing systems that require multiple instruments and multiple user steps. Reagents are loaded into two temperature-controlled microplates,
and a robotic arm transfers the TipChip microarrays to wells containing specific assay reagents. The Ziplex Automated Workstation detects hybridization using
chemiluminescence and a charged-coupled device (CCD) camera.
Analysis and reporting software is seamlessly integrated into the workstation to capture images and calculate gene expression levels and statistics. Results are
exported in an easily interpretable format for further manipulation with spreadsheets or scripts.
The Ziplex Automated Workstation is capable of testing up to eight samples in parallel per run, and reports results in 2 hours, 50 minutes (as opposed to 14-16
hours with other microarray systems) allowing up to 24 tests per day. Total hands-on operator time for array processing is 20 minutes per run.
The Ziplex System provides comparable performance to other global expression platforms.
