3 Dimensional TipChip

At the core of Xceed's Ziplex System is our patented Flow-Thru Chip (FTC) technology embodied in the single-use TipChip consumable. The TipChip is an advanced microporous silicon microarray in which molecular interactions occur within a three-dimensional matrix of microchannels resulting in 3 to 4 times faster hybridization time and improved assay performance. Capture probes are attached to the walls of groups of microchannels ("spots"), and target molecules are captured as sample flows through the channels. Multiple capture reagents are deposited in a grid to permit parallel analysis of up to 484 spots per chip ("features"). Depending on the number of replicates, each microarray can provide quantitative data on up to 120 different genes. Existing multiplex array technologies utilize a glass slide, alone or in a cartridge, with a two-dimensional surface. These formats are inherently difficult to automate, and even more difficult to integrate into a single instrument. The FTC is a unique technology for multi-analyte analysis. The FTC is embodied in a TipChip with self-regulating fluidics that enables automated hybridization and imaging in a microplate format within a single instrument.

Xceed intellectual property includes over 30 patents in the US and Internationally, and with numerous additional patents pending.
